How to unlock Forest

Forest is the starting zone: you can steal eggs there from your first minute, with no Speed at all.

Hatching eggs in Forest also gives Speed and cash, as the wiki lists under each egg's reward: Chicken Egg +420 Speed, $100; Dog Egg +460 Speed, $200; Bird Egg +500 Speed, $800; Burrowing Owl Egg +560 Speed, $3.5k; Raccoon Egg +620 Speed, $4.5k; Fox Egg +720 Speed, $18k; Bear Egg +820 Speed, $24k; Brr Brr Patapim Egg +1k Speed, $180k.

It is the first zone. Next: Lake needs 900 Speed. Speed comes from treadmills and trails: see treadmill and trail prices or the full Speed ladder.

Which Forest eggs are worth it

Weighted by the wiki's spawn chances, one random Forest egg is worth $40.9/s of base income. 4 pets beat that average: Brr Brr Patapim (Legendary, $1.8K/s), Bear (Epic, $240/s), Fox (Epic, $180/s), Raccoon (Rare, $45/s). Brr Brr Patapim alone accounts for 44% of the average, because its chance and value together outweigh the others.

The rarest egg, the Brr Brr Patapim Egg, hatches Brr Brr Patapim ($1.8K/s), 44× the zone average. You need about 69 Forest eggs for an even chance at one and 230 for 90%; at the zone average those 69 eggs would hatch about $2.82K/s of other pets along the way.

Moving on pays: an average Lake egg is worth $164/s, 4× a Forest egg, but it needs 900 Speed.

Size and mutations change all of this: a Rainbow Brr Brr Patapim earns $6.3K/s at base size, and a bigger one more still. The income calculator does the arithmetic for any weight.
